We all need to have a sort out every now and then as clutter tends to build up around us, without us realising. Unwanted gifts stored away out of sight, clothes that don’t fit anymore, a change of furniture, kids toys and so it goes on.
Decluttering your home doesn’t need to be painful or something to dread either. Think of the benefits! Like less cleaning, making some money or simply feeling good about reducing landfill.
Let’s not forget less debt too! When you’re unorganised and full of clutter you can’t find things when you’re looking for them. So you end up paying out for a replacement.
And how handy would a bit of extra cash be in the next few weeks? Well, now’s the time to not only think about decluttering but also actioning what you do with that clutter.
All you need to do is set yourself small, 10 minute, daily tasks for a week to see the difference. If you’re a family, work together to declutter, assigning tasks to everyone involved.
A free classifieds site like Preloved is a great place to list your items. It’s made for both buyers and sellers and can help you find a new home for your unwanted items, or bag yourself a bargain. Unlike auction sites there are no listing or selling fees and it’s so easy to do. List, reply to interested buyers, arrange your sale, done!
You can join for free but if you think you may be on there regularly selling or buying, then have a look at the other memberships available. For £5 a year you can include as many photos as you like with your listing and respond to enquiries as soon your listing is live. For £15 a year you also get to embed YouTube videos and get priority placing within the listings. On top of that, Preloved also has a TrustPilot rating of 4.1. What’s not to like?
If you don’t have anything you want to sell but you do have stuff to get rid of, put it on Freeloved first before sending to landfill. Just recently I posted a bag of rubble and a couple of fence posts that I’d finished with. Within a couple of days I was contacted and the items picked up and taken away. They were ideal for a garden project the guy was doing and he was so pleased to have found them. I was pleased to be able to help and know I was doing my bit to save on landfill.
