Are you a wanna be mixologist? Or just want some easy cocktail recipes to make at home? There are many easy cocktails you can make at home. They’re not as hard to make as you might think. Just check out the cocktails below and feel free to add your own twist to these drinks and make them into something that only your taste buds can enjoy.

If you’re trying to watch your weight, be mindful about how much alcohol you’re consuming with each meal or snack. Alcohol contains calories in the form of sugar and carbohydrates.

1. Cuba Libre

The cuba libre cocktail is a refreshing drink that is made with rum and coke. It’s the perfect drink for a hot summer day although I’ll happily drink it any time of the year!

  • Take 1/2 a lime and cut into 4 wedges. Squeeze the lime juice from 2 of the wedges into a highball glass. Add the remaining 2 wedges into the glass.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes until it reaches an inch or two from the top of the glass.
  • Pour in about 50ml of rum.
  • Fill the rest of the glass with coke, stirring slowly.
  • Add lime wedges or slices to garnish.

2. Gin & Tonic

You can make lots of different versions of gin & tonic but the classic recipe is below.

  • Fill a large glass with ice.
  • Add a wedge of lime.
  • Pour 50ml gin over the ice.
  • Top up with 50ml tonic or soda water.

3. Mojito

Though the recipe may vary, a mojito is typically made with lime juice, sugar, and mint leaves.

  • Add the juice from 1 lime to a highball glass
  • Add 1 teaspoon white sugar and stir into lime juice
  • Add 3 to 4 sprigs of mint leaves to the glass. Then crush the leaves with the back of a teaspoon, mixing with the lime juice and sugar.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes until it reaches 2″ from the top of the glass.
  • Pour 60ml of white rum over the ice and stir gently.
  • Top up with soda water and garnish with a couple of mint leaves on top.

4. Classic Margarita

A traditional margarita is made up of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. This is a quick-fix cocktail recipe that’s perfect for any time of year but particularly the summertime.

  • Add table salt to a saucer
  • Take a wedge of lime and rub it along the edge of the glass.
  • Turn glass upside down and place rim in saucer with salt so that the whole rim becomes covered with salt.
  • In a cocktail shaker add ice cubes, then pour in 50ml tequila, 20ml triple sec and 25ml of lime juice.
  • Put the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously, until the outside feels cold.
  • Using a strainer, pour into a glass over fresh ice, garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy!

5. Kir Royale

A Kir Royale cocktail is made with crème de cassis (black currant liqueur), sparkling wine, Prosecco or Champagne. These are perfect for all types of celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, New Year etc

  • Add 1 tbsp creme de cassis to a champagne flute
  • Top glass up with your favourite fizz
  • Add a fresh or frozen blackberry or raspberry to the glass to garnish.

6. Black Russian

A classic Black Russian cocktail is made up of vodka, coffee liqueur and coke. It makes a great after-dinner drink.

  • Add ice to a tumbler
  • Pour 50ml of vodka and 25ml of coffee liqueur over the ice and stir gently for 30 secs to 1 min.
  • Top up the glass with coke
  • Add a Maraschino cherry too garnish.
